Created in conjunction with Air Baltic and the Riga area travel agents (tourism) association, the plan is to create 10,000 new jobs in tourism.
One of the focuses of the effort will be the Christmas Holiday season this year.
As many already know, Riga is home to The First Christmas Tree in the year 1510.
Riga also has a market oriented society and smaller traditional holiday markets come alive in Riga during each respective holiday. This is especially true at Christmas time. Riga's re-started the Christmas Market tradition in 2001.
This year, Santa Claus will visit Riga Latvia on Sunday, 29 November (the first Advent) to check the preparations for lighting the First Christmas Tree - maybe even that day.
Santa will be assisted on Sunday 29, November starting at 16:00 by at least one Elf and a photographer from the UK company: Portfolio Photography agency http://www.portfoliophotography.eu/
Free photos with Santa Claus will be provided as an Internet download.
